Wind Chimes

This was my favorite of the recordings. During my walk I heard a faint chime from afar, the sound was very soothing and I thought it would be perfect for one of my clips. I began looking all around the houses until I saw the wind chimes on the top floor of one of the houses down on lincoln. This was seconds after the ambulance sirens happened. I found it and began recording it. I chose it because it just sounds beautiful in the way it slowly fades into earshot. Listen to it HERE

The life and death of a can

During my walk I saw a 7-up can in an alley. I started kicking it just for fun and then the sound it made in the mics sounded cool so I kept kicking it down the street and then eventually crushed it. I thought it was pretty symbolic of how I had been feeling that day. Listen to it HERE

Ambulance Cries

DISCLAIMER:VERY LOUD AT BEGINNING

During my walk as I was going down lincoln avenue an ambulance turned its sirens on right next to me. I jumped when it first happened but hearing it back it sounds cool how the siren slowly fades away to nothing. Listen to it HERE

Thank You, Come Again

During my walk I went into a gas station on howell ave. I walked through the gas station and just picked up the noises people were making as they were going about their business. I liked this clip because I go to this convenient store almost every day and it was interesting to hear back the minor sounds in our everyday lives. Listen to it HERE

Dogs, Cars, and Metal Poles

On my walk I found a large metal pole laying on the ground so I picked it up and began dragging it along the concrete as I was recording. I like this sound clip because it has a sort of creepy vibe and you can hear a car screech and a dog barking in the distance. I think this gives the clip a little more depth. Listen to it HERE

Drift Strategy One

For my first drift walk I plan on walking around Bay View. I’m going to start on about Lincoln & KK and plan on finishing the walk somewhere around Humboldt Park on Howell & Oklahoma. I chose this location because its convenient to where I live and there are a lot of different things going on. I will utilize some different walking techniques to pick up unique sounds. I am going to be doing some zig zags and I’m going to take many left to right turns.
